Welcome to The Letters Page!
In this podcast, creators Christopher Badell and Adam Rebottaro tell real stories about fake comics! Based on their hit card game Sentinels of the Multiverse, each hour+ episode explores a hero, villain, event, or something else entirely from the wide world of Sentinel Comics. They also answer your questions!

Episodes post weekly on Tuesday mornings at 9 AM, Central Time.

Adam's birth month is over! There will be feasting and dancing in May next year!

Show Notes:

Run Time: 1:15:31

After some birth month/day talk, we get into the overview a couple minutes in, where we first attempt to clear up some misconceptions, which devolves into a conversation not at all pertinent to the world of Sentinel Comics. Then, we once again go into too many issues for a single Writers' Room episode, but not as bad as other recent episodes. We just have a penchant for writing in arcs.

At a bit before the 38 minute mark, we get to your delightful questions! And then, at just before the 1 hour and 10 minute mark, we talk very briefly about the cover, which you can see above.

If you're a contributor to the Letters Page Patreon, the topic submission form for this month went live yesterday! Let us know who you want us to talk about! We're settling into the new way things work here, and we're excited to create even more stories for you.

One issue? In this economy? Nah, let's do a bunch of issues!

Show Notes:

Run Time: 1:30:52

For whatever reason, we felt like being overachievers today. Enjoy more than one issue! Also, we get to talk not just action, but also intrigue... and politics! Maerynian politics, that is.

We get to your questions just after the 45 minute mark. Questions today brought to you by Zap Dragon, who I just recently found out is also Ehkrickor! Spoilers, I guess.

This is the last episode that will be released in Adam's birth month this year! However, the next episode we record will be recorded still in his birth month, so the celebration isn't quite over yet!

Looking forward to next time, in which we create more issues!

A long Editors Note mostly about Sentinel Comics: the Roleplaying Game!

Show Notes:

Run Time: 2:11:38

Adam's birth month continues! Also, we just released the preview of the SCRPG core rulebook to the Kickstarter backers last week, so we celebrated with an episode with SO MANY questions about the game!

Here's the upcoming schedule:

  • Tuesday, June 2nd: Episode #146 - Writers' Room: Citizens Hammer & Anvil
  • Tuesday, June 9th: Episode #147 - Writers’ Room: Day in the Life: Bunker
  • Tuesday, June 16th: Episode #148 - Creative Process: D-List Heroes
  • Tuesday, June 23rd: Editor’s Note #43
  • Tuesday, June 30th: Episode #149 - Writers’ Room: Disparation: Anime/Manga

Catch you next time!

May 12, 2020

It's time for another episode!

Show Notes:

Run Time: 1:11:50

Ready to learn about a 90s event we've never talked about before? We had a lot of fun with this one - we hope you do, too!

After about 40 minutes of crafting and telling this story (in more parts than we intended), we get to your questions. And only a few minutes into the question section, I get to read a couple big reveals for upcoming stuff! Exciting times, these.

At just before the 1 hour and 3 minute mark, we do the "cover" section, which also breaks down the order of the parts of the Strike Force Invasion event.

We hope you can join us Friday for a live recording of Editor's Note #42!

May 5, 2020

Cosmic? Yeah! What's more cosmic than a lady that makes robots with her brain and her best friend, a robot that she didn't make with her brain?

Show Notes:

Run Time: 1:29:07

This is the first episode of Adam's birth month. If you're not into birth month celebrations for Adam... well, I've got bad news for you. That's what May is going to be. He likes a big to do about the whole thing, and I like humoring him. So there.

We talk about that (and a few other things, but mostly the birth month stuff) for about 4 minutes, and then we hit the ground running! This one is a lot of fun to see come together live, as we didn't know at all where it would go - the cosmic thing really threw a curveball into any of our prior thoughts, but it turned out great! At least, we like it. We hope you do, too!

Just after 44 minutes in, we dig into your piles of delightful questions. Thank you for your multitudinous queries!

A bit after the 1 hour and 24 minute mark, we talk briefly about the cover!

Thanks for listening! Catch you next time! Celebrate for Adam!

Let's envision some friends!

Show Notes:

Run Time: 1:19:11

We're both settling into this new way of life more and are feeling way better, thanks for asking! As a result, we've got a real downer of a supporting cast episode, just so you know.

We spend barely over one minute with banter and intro and just get right into it! And we create some stuff of various levels of good and bad feeling.

Around 37 minutes in, we get to your questions! And what a delightful parcel of questions they are. Good stuff explored in the question section today.

Join us next time, as we kick off Adam's birth month!

Our first remote live editor's note! The audio quality is better than we feared it would be, but it's still not up to Trevor-approved-quality!

Show Notes:

Run Time: 1:13:00

Christopher's doing pretty well, but Adam's spiraling into chaos. If nothing else, this means that the more things change, the more they stay - in some small ways - the same.

Next month is May, which means it's Adam's birth-month! Celebrate! Here's the schedule for the month of partying:

  • Tuesday, May 5th: Episode #143 - Writers' Room: Unity and Omnitron (X or U)
  • Tuesday, May 12th: Episode #144 - Writers' Room: post-Bloodsworn Sky-Scraper
  • Tuesday, May 19th: Editor’s Note #42
  • Tuesday, May 26th: Episode #145 - Writers’ Room: Leviathan

Here's a calendar!

We talked about a bunch of things this Editor's Note, including but not limited to:

  • OblivAeon, of course
  • Meta-Meta-Meta-Meta-Meta-Meta...
  • The Sentinels of Freedom video game, now on Steam! Go check it out!
  • Absolute Zero
  • Degenerate
  • Schema
  • Romance. Around the 41 minute mark, Amelia Ryans in the live chat made a Tinder profile for Absolute Zero. Here it is:

  • Theories of How the Multiverse Works
  • Sentinel Comics in other properties
  • Todd Lito
  • Parse in Rook City
  • Un-super heroes
  • Fake comic book backstory organization methods
  • and more!

Get your questions in for those upcoming topics! And thank you to all of our Patreon supporters - we do this for YOU!

A story of a new standard!

Show Notes:

Run Time: 1:31:46

Adam and I are both rather stir crazy already, but we're excited to be talking about Sentinel Comics! A lot going on here.

We banter a bit, but then dig into justifying Benchmark's backstory against issue numbers. We solve everything, and there are no more problems. Everything is fine. Oh, and also do a bit of thinking on morality/human nature.

Finally, we get into crafting and telling the story of the issue just after 14 minutes in.

We get to your questions at just before the 40 minute mark. We answer a lot of questions, not just about Benchmark, but also about Chrono-Ranger!

And, finally, we talk about the cover around 1 hour and 26 minutes in.

Thanks for listening! If you're on the Patreon, join us on Friday at 11 AM, Central time for the first live Editor's Note done entirely over the internet!

Apr 7, 2020

April will make a fool out of all of us!

Show Notes:

Run Time: 1:30:04

This episode is the first one we've ever recorded remotely! If you can tell right away, apologies for the drop in audio quality. We'd much rather record in person, but the health and safety of Adam's family and Christopher's cat are too important to sacrifice. If you can't detect a notable drop in quality, that's because Trevor is an AV wizard!

As a result of not recording using our usual setup, we aren't able to pause recording really, so these episodes are much more "uncut". Trevor still edits them quite a bit, but we attempt to push through and do as much "live" as possible. Does that make for a better listening experience? Heck, we don't know - we've never done this before!

We talk a bit about social distancing and other current events for a bit, get to work around 8 minutes in, get to your questions a little bit after the 45 minute mark, and then talk about the cover for a few minutes starting just before the 1 hour and 19 minute mark before calling it a day. All in all, a worthwhile Friday afternoon, that we now deliver to you on a Tuesday!

We look forward to unveiling more of the Multiverse for you soon!

Some frigid foes!

Show Notes:

Run Time: 1:33:59

Minimal goofs, mostly due to existential dread. Tough times, these.

Here's the image we discussed early on in the overview segment:

Did you make this? If you're the one who made this, let us know! Good job. We'd love to give you credit for your good work.

We hope you're all getting plenty of social distancing! Join us next month for more shelter in place and talk about Sentinel Comics!
