A story of a new standard!
Show Notes:
Run Time: 1:31:46
Adam and I are both rather stir crazy already, but we're excited to be talking about Sentinel Comics! A lot going on here.
We banter a bit, but then dig into justifying Benchmark's backstory against issue numbers. We solve everything, and there are no more problems. Everything is fine. Oh, and also do a bit of thinking on morality/human nature.
Finally, we get into crafting and telling the story of the issue just after 14 minutes in.
We get to your questions at just before the 40 minute mark. We answer a lot of questions, not just about Benchmark, but also about Chrono-Ranger!
And, finally, we talk about the cover around 1 hour and 26 minutes in.
Thanks for listening! If you're on the Patreon, join us on Friday at 11 AM, Central time for the first live Editor's Note done entirely over the internet!
April will make a fool out of all of us!
Show Notes:
Run Time: 1:30:04
This episode is the first one we've ever recorded remotely! If you can tell right away, apologies for the drop in audio quality. We'd much rather record in person, but the health and safety of Adam's family and Christopher's cat are too important to sacrifice. If you can't detect a notable drop in quality, that's because Trevor is an AV wizard!
As a result of not recording using our usual setup, we aren't able to pause recording really, so these episodes are much more "uncut". Trevor still edits them quite a bit, but we attempt to push through and do as much "live" as possible. Does that make for a better listening experience? Heck, we don't know - we've never done this before!
We talk a bit about social distancing and other current events for a bit, get to work around 8 minutes in, get to your questions a little bit after the 45 minute mark, and then talk about the cover for a few minutes starting just before the 1 hour and 19 minute mark before calling it a day. All in all, a worthwhile Friday afternoon, that we now deliver to you on a Tuesday!
We look forward to unveiling more of the Multiverse for you soon!
Some frigid foes!
Show Notes:
Run Time: 1:33:59
Minimal goofs, mostly due to existential dread. Tough times, these.
Here's the image we discussed early on in the overview segment:
Did you make this? If you're the one who made this, let us know! Good job. We'd love to give you credit for your good work.
We hope you're all getting plenty of social distancing! Join us next month for more shelter in place and talk about Sentinel Comics!
We did this one LIVE! For everyone!
Show Notes:
Run Time: 1:37:15
We had a great time with this one, even in these trying times. You can watch it here!
Upcoming schedule:
And here's a calendar!
Stay healthy and safe out there, everyone!
Hello, friends! Or foes?! Who can tell?!?!
Show Notes:
Run Time: 1:12:49
So, this episode is the hero/villain team-up episode. We didn't NOT succeed at that... but you'll have to listen to find out what happens. It's certainly an attempt at the given topic!
We make up for it by talking about a bunch more comics than just one, if that's any consolation to you.
This Friday, March 20th, is our LIVE Editor's Note recording! If you're on the Letters Page Patreon, please come join in at 11 AM, Central! We'll be in the Discord as well to take your questions. And, if you're a Contributor on the Patreon, the voting is up now for next month's episodes! Go vote! Voting is important!
Chrono-Ranger in Feudal Japan!
Show Notes:
Run Time: 58:28
Under an hour?! An episode that doesn't break the hour mark?!?!
It's true.
We only had two questions for this episode, so the questions section is much shorter than usual. Not to fear, though - we've already been amassing questions for the next couple episodes, and there are lots. This one just happened to be a bit more on the quiet side.
We get to the overview portion in which we establish the type of story, determine when it lands, and then craft and tell the tale, starting a bit before the 4 minute mark. That process takes us more than half of the episode, so we get to questions after 38 minutes in. Then, only several minutes later, we talk about the cover right after the 51 minute mark. And that's the show!
Thanks everyone for listening! Don't forget, if you're on the Letters Page Patreon, you can join us for a live show on March 20th! And if you're not on the Letters Page Patreon... well, you could be!
We have been wrong in the past about the Naturalist, but not today!
Show Notes:
Run Time: 1:20:47
We get into a LOT on this one! We just sort of hit the ground running, and keep up the pace for quite a while!
For those of you who like timestamps, we get to the overview around 5 and a half minutes in, the question section just before the 35 minute mark, and finally button things up around an hour and 14 minutes in. A couple minutes after that, we can't remember how the link to our Patreon is spelled. You can find the answer here!
Thanks for listening, everyone! When the next episode goes live, I'll be in international waters doing my best to avoid that COVID-19, but I'll be back the week after that for a live show! See you then!
Parse gets murdery!
Show Notes:
Run Time: 1:26:31
To be fair, Parse started out very murdery, and then mellowed over time. Today, we tell one of those early stories, and we do not hold back! Slight content warning on this one for (audio discussion of) graphic violence, as well as some drugs (not really drugs used, though - just drugs being generally around). Also, she's a jerk. Just so you know. Forewarned is forearmed, and with the amount Parse uses that bow, she's gotta have great forearms, right?
At around the 47 minute mark, we get into questions. You asked them - we answer them!
We talk a bit about the cover just after 1 hour and 16 minutes in, though you likely have already seen the cover by now. It's in these show notes!
Thanks everyone for listening! We're getting close to March, in which the recording and episode release schedule starts to get more normal. Thanks for bearing with us!
Adam's back! I'm excited. Are you excited? You should be.
Show Notes:
Run Time: 1:30:22
I'd say we spend a lot of time goofing around, but let's be real: Adam and I only see each other once a week these days, so there's a LOT of goofing to be done. Gotta get it all out of our systems!
Here's the upcoming schedule!
And who doesn't love a photo of a calendar?
That big red stripe on the calendar is when I'm out of town in March, so we're making up with a recording on the first Thursday, and then we're back on schedule in real time with March's Editor's Note. No more being a week ahead of schedule for us!
We field a lot of questions on a lot of topics! Such as:
Thanks for listening, everyone! We hope you like us as much as we like you!
A familiar team, yet one that never was!
Show Notes:
Run Time: 1:06:35
We do another early Disparation story! These are always fun.
Just a note on Letters Page timeline: we're pretty much back on our regular schedule but the episode numbering is one behind since we interjected with last week's non-standard episode. As a result, the first episode for March will be what was going to be the last February episode. We'll still have voting and Editor's Notes as usual, and we're still a week ahead on recording time, just in case Adam has to pull away for a week for baby reasons, which is not entirely unlikely. We shall see!
Catch you next time!
